2 New Features at YCMT! May 27, 2008

We’re excited to bring you 2 new features at www.YouCanMakeThis.com!  This first is an addition to our YCMT-TV series!  It is going to be called YCMT 101 and members of the YCMT team will show you the basics of sewing and other techniques found on our site!

In short, less than 5 minute, video clips, you ‘ll learn the basics of sewing.  If you already know the basics, you’ll like knowing that even more advanced sewing techniques will be shown on video in the near future. We want you to be successful and this is a fun way to showcase the possibilities. 

It doesn’t stop at sewing though. We have filmed and will be broadcasting episodes for crochet, too! Your feedback lets us know what you’d like to see, and we can tell that there are many who would love to make so many of the darling crochet items found on the site, but do not know where to start! So we are also including segments for that, too. 

We’ll work to create episodes in other areas of design, as well. Tell us what you’d like to watch and we’ll see if we can help!

So head on over to the home page of www.YouCanMakeThiscom. Scroll down to the bottom where you’ll find video and you’ll find YCMT 101 there. Learn the basics of using your rotary cutting tools, different methods for gathering, how to install a zipper, and more.

And the second piece of news is that we are opening a new section of the site called, “KIDS Can Make This!”  Beginning in June, visit our site each week for a new FREE project download that you can do with your children! That’s right…KIDS can make this, too!  We’ve read your comments and know how much you enjoy sharing your love of learning something new, with your own children and grandchildren. So we’re going to help you create some fun memories (oh,and a fun project, too!) each week this Summer.

Episode #2 of YCMT-TV! October 1, 2007

When I first learned that there was a special foot you could buy for your machine that would “ruffle”, I was so excited! Then I got that “monster chunk of metal” home, and wasn’t sure how I was going to use it! LOL! So through trial and a whole lot of error, I managed to put together a few ruffles.

Well, now I know how to REALLY use this wonderful gadget  and I have Carla of CarlaC Dolly Designs to thank for that. She not only has made a YCMT-TV episode on how to ruffle with that “ruffler” of yours, but has also created a FREE eBook that you can download, too. You are going to love it! You’ll also want to check out Carla’s latest eBook so that you can put those ruffles to good use! It’s called, “Portrait Peasant Tops and Dresses”.

Our First Episode of YCMT-TV! September 8, 2007

I am so excited! After months of development, we finally have our first episode of YCMT-TV ready to show! We needed to keep it to a small amount of time just so that those with slower connections could still watch, but I think you’ll enjoy learning something new.

Now, here’s the surprise…one of YOU will actually have your child’s name on this pillow shown in the episode!

So even if you’re not interested in making these, you may just want to watch to see if your child’s name is on the pillow! You’ll receive it this week!

After you watch the video segment, be sure to post to our BLOG! And hey, why not tell us what one of YOUR favorites things to make is! Someone who posts to this feature on the blog will win a finished pillow with one of your children’s names on it.  We’ll find out his/her name and bedroom colors later, but for now, just post to the blog, let us know what you think of YCMT-TV or even tell us what one of your favorite things to make is, and you could win!

Also, in celebration of this first episode, the eBook “Making Personalized Name Pillows” will be on sale for 30% off. So sit back and watch the first “official” episode of YCMT-TV. You’ll crack up at the “speed mode” that sets in during the middle of the segment, and you may just be surprised to see your child’s name on the pillow in the end! 

Quick note about the video — whether you have high-speed or dial-up, it should work for you. If the video “pauses” every so often, that’s ok. Simply let it run through once on your computer. It just sometimes takes time for it to “render”. Then once it has gone through once, you’ll be able to “replay” it again just fine with no interuptions. It is a little over 5 minutes long, but you’ll learn the beginning techniques to making this pillow so that you can apply the technique to ANYTHING.  Enjoy!

It’s great to have your support and enthusiasm!

I am VERY new to this blog stuff…still trying to figure it all out! I’m not even sure how I can even post my own comment to answer other people’s questions in the same post — lol!  So I’ve been reading through all of your responses, and thought I’d just make a new post to help answer some of your curiosities!
1. YCMT-TV will be web-based.  A few of our YCMT friends from Australia and Spain were wondering about that. Great question!

2. YCMT-TV will NOT take the place of our full line of eBook products. YEA! But we will be including more video in all aspects of the site, including future eBook/video products.

3. YCMT-TV will be FREE!! And within each episode, you will learn some kind of new tip, trick, technique, “how to” etc. We will have fun meeting new people (authors and customers!), take you on shopping trips to places like the fabric store (lol!), show redecorating projects, you name it. There’s a lot of ideas I have (they usually come at 2 a.m.) and my intent is that you learn something new from each episode. Oh! And I can’t forget to tell you about some fun segments with your photos from the “I Made This!” section!
I think that’s about it for now. There’s more to come, so watch your inboxes if you’re on our newsletter list. I’m off to read more about this new world of blogging.

Welcome to our new BLOG! June 27, 2007

Hi everyone! I finally decided it was time to let you know a little bit about some new things happening at www.YouCanMakeThis.com! If you’ve been a member of our newsletter list, you know I’ve been talking about the “Big Reveal” that would be coming soon. Well, we are SO close to telling you EVERYTHING….but there’s some last minute things we are still finishing up.
